This just in...
* Brideshead Revisited is about to be made into a Hollywood epic, but Jeremy Irons won't be having anything to do with it.
Irons who was the star of the lavish TV adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's novel, says he recently turned down a role in the film which begins shooting at Oxford in May.
"They did approach me and ask me to be involved in it - they wanted me to play the part of Lord Marchmain - but I said I couldn't possibly put my feet into the footsteps of Olivier," he said modestly at the recent premiere of La Vie en Rose.
"Marchmain is also old and dying, so I'm far too young and fit for that."
Fortunately, Irons is happy to give the project his blessing.
"I have read the new script and I think it's very good," he added.
It gets Jeremy's blessing... hmm... I remain open minded.
